Our Story

We are a couple and a couple of counselors (and yes, we know how that sounds).

After years of agency work, we hit a wall that a lot of therapists hit eventually: the feeling that the people we were most called to help weren't being reached by the systems we were working inside. The pandemic cracked that wide open for us. We watched clients fall through the gaps, waitlists stretch for months, and the kind of deep, sustained therapeutic work that actually moves the needle get squeezed out by productivity metrics and case volume.

So we built something different.

Calibrations Counseling & Consultation is our answer to that. A practice we designed from the ground up to be the kind of place we wish had existed for our own clients, and honestly, for ourselves.

What We Believe

Therapy works best when you feel genuinely safe. Not performatively welcomed, not tolerated, but actually seen and understood. That requires warmth, yes, but it also requires honesty, clinical depth, and a therapist who isn't afraid to sit in the uncomfortable places with you.

We also believe that a lot of the people who struggle most in traditional therapy aren't struggling because therapy doesn't work. They're struggling because the therapy they've encountered wasn't built with their brain in mind.

That's a big part of why we specialize in neurodivergence.

Who We Work With

Our practice centers on adults navigating:

  • ADHD — including late-identified adults who spent years wondering why everything felt so much harder than it seemed to for everyone else

  • Autism — including assessment for adults who are seeking clarity about their neurotype

  • Anxiety — especially the high-functioning, high-achieving kind that looks like success from the outside and feels like white-knuckling it from the inside

  • Life transitions — career changes, relationship shifts, identity evolution, the messy in-between seasons

  • Chronic illness — the emotional weight of living in a body that requires ongoing management and adaptation

  • Trauma — with a nervous-system-informed, paced approach that doesn't ask you to go faster than your system can handle

We are proudly LGBTQIA+ affirming. Every client who walks through our virtual door deserves care that honors all of who they are.

We Are Human Too

One of the things we say to clients a lot is that we bring our whole selves to this work, not just our degrees. We are neurodivergent ourselves. We have navigated the same cultural pressure to perform normalcy, the same moments of questioning ourselves, the same learning curve of figuring out what it means to live well in brains that work differently.

That lived experience doesn't replace clinical training. But it does mean we're not working from theory alone. When you describe the particular exhaustion of masking through a workday, or the shame spiral that follows a task you still didn't finish, we know what you're talking about from the inside.

This is a journey for us just as much as it is for our clients. We are still growing, still learning, still calibrating. And we think that's exactly as it should be.

Why "Calibrations"

The name is intentional. Calibration isn't about achieving some fixed perfect state. It's about ongoing adjustment, finding what's accurate, what's working, what needs to shift. That's what therapy is. That's what building a sustainable life looks like. Not one dramatic transformation, but a thousand small recalibrations over time.

That's the work we want to do with you.

Our Practice

Calibrations Counseling & Consultation is based in Barberton, Ohio and offers telehealth therapy to clients throughout the state. We offer individual counseling, autism assessments, therapeutic Dungeons & Dragons groups, and premarital and marital coaching.

Every new client starts with a free video consultation call so you can get a feel for who we are before committing to anything. We think that matters. You should feel like you're choosing us, not just landing wherever there's an opening.

If you're ready to start, or just want to ask some questions first, we'd love to hear from you.

You're sitting on the couch trying to motivate yourself to get up and moving. You have so much to do and all of it important but you just... can't. You feel overwhelmed and you don't know where to start. You're exhausted and it's time for a change.

You want to get through your day without becoming overwhelmed and shutting down. You'd like to tackle your day to day tasks without that little voice in the back of your head being so critical. You think it would also feel wonderful to actually enjoy life and take time for yourself without feeling guilty or selfish. I can help you get there.

I have experience working with individuals struggling with anxiety, depression, ADHD, life transitions, and substance use. I provide a comfortable and calming space for you to come as you are, without judgement. I enjoy getting to know you and ensure that you are not just listened to, but truly heard. I am an LGBTQ+ affirming therapist.

I am a licensed professional clinical counselor supervisor (LPCC-S), DBT Certified,  and graduated from the University of Akron with a master’s of education.  I enjoy getting to know you and ensure that you are not just listened to, but truly heard.  You are important and what you want and need matters.  Sessions with me are laid back and move at your pace.  Therapy is not a one size fits all experience and everyone’s needs are different.  I get on your level in order to help you figure out what you need and what will work best for you.

When I’m not in my office, I can be found building and painting miniatures, playing D&D or video games, going out for karaoke, spending time with my husband and our pets, or watching Buffy the Vampire Slayer for the 1,000th time.

After my own childhood experiences, I became a therapist because I wanted to help people know that they aren’t alone; there are people that care about them.  I’m a licensed professional clinical counselor supervisor (LPCC-S) and graduated from the University of Akron with a master’s of education.  I’ve often been told that I’m not a “typical therapist”.

I’ve been a geek my whole life and I often bring that into sessions with various fandoms and movie quotes.  I’m down to earth and thrive on letting you steer therapy while riding alongside so you’re not alone in your journey.  I don’t come in with a preconceived agenda and instead work to meet you where you are at and discover what you truly want from life.  I provide an unbiased space for you to be yourself and I like to use humor when appropriate.  When I’m not in my office, I can be found hiking or going on fun day adventures, playing video games (Mass Effect is the best game of all time), watching the original Star Wars trilogy and Lord of the Rings, spending time with my wife and our pets, or going to a good old renaissance festival.

Fear, anger, and sadness keep you from feeling any sense of stability or peace. You’re struggling to trust others and nothing feels safe. You’re feeling exhausted and isolated and it’s time for a change.

You want to get through your day without being constantly on edge, waiting for the next intrusive thought to appear. You’d like to enjoy life without constant worry or fear. You think it would also feel wonderful to achieve a sense of inner peace. I can help you get there.
