About This Service
Calibrations Counseling & Consultation offers adult ADHD assessments in Ohio via telehealth and in person at our Barberton office. Assessments are conducted by Emily Linder, LPCC-S, a licensed professional clinical counselor supervisor and DBT-certified clinician with specialized experience in neurodivergent-affirming care. We use a comprehensive battery of measures including the DIVA-5 (Diagnostic Interview for ADHD in Adults, 5th edition) to evaluate ADHD in adults ages 18 and older. Most major commercial insurances are accepted, including Aetna, Cigna, United Healthcare, Medical Mutual of Ohio, and Anthem Blue Cross/Blue Shield. The full assessment is completed across two sessions at a total private-pay cost of $320, and payment plans are available.
What is an ADHD Assessment?
An ADHD assessment is a structured evaluation that looks at your history, behaviors, and experiences to determine whether ADHD is an accurate diagnosis for you. At Calibrations Counseling & Consultation, we don't rely on a single questionnaire to make that call. We use a comprehensive battery of measures, including the DIVA-5 (Diagnostic Interview for ADHD in Adults, 5th edition), to get a full picture of how your brain works.
The DIVA-5 is a structured clinical interview designed specifically for adult ADHD assessment. It looks at both current symptoms and childhood history across the two core areas of ADHD, attention and hyperactivity/impulsivity, and explores how those symptoms show up across different areas of your life.
ADHD in adults can look very different from the textbook version, especially in women and neurodivergent folks who have spent years masking or compensating. We know that, and we take a thorough, affirming approach that doesn't rely on outdated stereotypes.
What to Expect?
Our process is designed to be thorough without being overwhelming.
Session 1: Intake and Evaluation ($170)
Your first session covers your intake, history, and the beginning of the assessment. You'll complete a series of rating scales and screeners, and we'll start building a clear picture of your experience.
Session 2: Assessment Completion and Results ($150)
Your second session wraps up the evaluation. When we're done, you'll receive a written letter summarizing your results, your diagnosis if applicable, and recommendations for next steps. You can share this with your primary care provider, psychiatrist, or anyone else on your care team who needs it.
Total Cost: $320

Do you diagnose ADHD in adults?
Yes. Our assessments are conducted by Emily Linder, LPCC-S, a licensed professional clinical counselor supervisor in Ohio with specialized experience in adult ADHD. Following your evaluation, you will receive a written letter summarizing your results and diagnosis if one applies.
Can I get medication through Calibrations after my assessment?
No. As a counseling practice, we are not able to prescribe medication. However, your written results letter can be shared directly with your primary care provider or psychiatrist, who can use it to guide medication decisions. If you need help finding a prescriber, we can point you toward neurodivergent-affirming providers in Ohio.
What does the written letter include?
Your results letter includes a summary of your assessment findings, your diagnosis if applicable, and recommendations for next steps including therapy, medication management, or other supports if applicable. It is written in a format that can be shared with other providers on your care team.
How is adult ADHD different from childhood ADHD?
ADHD in adults often presents differently than the hyperactive, easily-distracted child most people picture. In adults, especially women and people who have spent years masking or compensating, ADHD can look like chronic disorganization, difficulty completing tasks, emotional dysregulation, time blindness, or a persistent sense of underperforming despite trying hard. Many adults reach their thirties, forties, or beyond before receiving an accurate diagnosis. Our assessment process is designed with adult presentations in mind.
Do you assess for ADHD in women and people who were late-diagnosed?
Yes, and this is an area we feel strongly about. ADHD in women and people assigned female at birth is frequently missed or misdiagnosed because it often presents differently than the hyperactive, disruptive profile that dominated early research. If you've been dismissed before or told you "don't seem like you have ADHD," that's exactly the kind of experience our assessment is designed to take seriously.
Do I need a referral to schedule an assessment?
No referral is needed. You can reach out directly to schedule.
What if I also want to be assessed for autism?
